Colorful Gemstone Chain Layers, Bib Necklace with Stones and Copper Enamel Pendant, Landscape Image, WillOaks Studio Original Art Jewelry

A complex collection of gemstones, linked and layered, showcase an original copper enamel pendant. Warm colorful landscape imagery on the pendant inspired me to use a rich collection of semi-precious gems in coordinated colors. Another in my "American Landscape" series, this one of a kind beadwork bib includes lemon quartz, citrine, carnelian, smoky quartz, apatite, hessonite garnets, and freshwater pearls for a truly unique piece of art jewelry.

The necklace is 20" long and has a drop in the center front of about 3". The stones and pendant are assembled with oxidized sterling wire, chain and components. Sliding knots on the leather cord allow the necklace to expand to about 29" The 4th image here show the necklace at 20" wearing length and the full dress form image show the piece at the fully extended length.

In summer 2014, I focused for a few intense months on developing my ideas and imagery in copper enameling using various glasses and my small kiln. I was living in nature and inspired by Midwestern landscapes, I did a lot of photography, soaked up the colors and textures of the land, and tried ways to interpret all of this in vitreous enamels. My pendants and earrings feature glass bonded to copper for durable, permanent imagery. Then, these small landscapes each inspire the materials and colors for larger constructions, necklaces and earrings.
