Dark Statement Necklace, Pearls and Gems, Multi Strand Pearls Artisan Enamel Pendants, Conceptual Art Jewelry, Navy Blue Necklace, Original

A mysterious darker statement necklace from my "Atmosphere Series" features nightfall with a full moon as the inspiration. The concept necklace features enameled pendants-one larger 1 1/4" oval and one smaller 3/4" teardrop shape-that are dark blackish blue. White pearls float in front of the darkness in each copper enameled shape. Many details include dark blue rice shaped pearls, dark blue smaller round pearls, and an antiqued silver chain with multiple faceted peacock pearls and faceted labradorite that add some twinkle. Hung from fine black leather with slip knots to be worn from 18" to 26" long (measuring the shortest of the 3 layers.)

The necklace fastens with a sterling heart shaped lobster clasp in front. Easy to put on leaving the leather adjustments set to the length that you like. In the photos above, side by side images show the wearing length at the shortest and longest.

The idea for this piece began in Autumn 2013, and some early "atmosphere" pieces can be seen in the sold section of my shop. This is my first fully conceived and finished necklace in this series and I created a loose edition of 3 (the focals were very similar, but the chains were varied.) Artisan enameling refers to vitreous enamel which is fine powdered glass that's bonded to metal under with high heat. Multiple firings and additions of glass slowly create the final images or, in this case, the "atmosphere." Copper is the base of the pendant shapes here, and the rest of the metal in this art necklace is oxidized sterling silver.
